As soon as you rattle over the cattle grid at the start of the impressive Boconnoc Estate drive near Lostwithiel, you know you are entering a lavish Cornish retreat. Winding down the 2 miles of private access road through the grounds, it truly feels like being transported back in time and whisked away from the hustle and bustle of the “real world”.
It can be difficult to convey in writing just how romantic a setting the 7,500 acres of country estate is, within it’s landscape you’ll find a deer park, lake, cottages, church, gardens, secret retreats and at it’s heart, Boconnoc House itself.
Much like the “Pitt Diamond” (the jem that forms part of Boconnoc’s rich heritage), this magnificent 13th century building is a jewel in the estate’s crown.
Tenderly restored to a “Historic Houses Association” award winning standard and still lovingly run by the Fortescue family, the house and its impressive rooms are eagerly hired out to anyone wishing to hold their celebration in a relaxed and luxurious setting.
Flexibility is Boconnoc’s biggest strength as a venue when it comes to holding events.
Pretty much any area of the house, its associated buildings and surrounding gardens can be rented for exclusive use by clients wishing to organise anything from a small intimate gathering through to a large lavish wedding reception.
Self catering accommodation on site is a distinct advantage and several wedding couples visiting from outside Cornwall that we have worked with over the past few years have loved being able to feel like they have become country house owners for the duration of their stay.
Boconnoc is one of very few locations in Cornwall that allow those that book the venue to really take control of arrangements themselves. This means that for entertainment purposes, it’s ideal, with flexibility around music start and end times, giving a feeling of a relaxed private house party, free from the restrictions found in most hotels.
We proudly work on several events each year at Boconnoc and are able to supply DJ and mobile disco services for the evening in the panelled (red) room, daytime background music and wireless microphones for the drawing/smoking rooms and marquee or outdoor PA hire on the lawn.
Boconnoc is one of our preferred events venues, due to the friendly, attention to detail approach from the Fortescue family, the scope for a variety of guest numbers at locations across the estate, great acoustics, flexible performance times with easy access all wrapped up in a countryside setting unrivaled anywhere else in Cornwall.
